“Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own; and from morning to night, as from the cradle to the grave, it is but a succession of changes so gentle and easy that we can scarcely mark their progress.” – Charles Dickens

On Friday 16th March in Shanghai, Alfred Dunhill will host ‘Trafalgar’ a global event presenting the House collection to 1000 guests.

‘Trafalgar’ the 2012 global Brand presentation. Following in the footsteps of ‘Momentary’ New York, 2010 and ‘Home’ London, 2011.

Trafalgar is the 3rd annual exhibition in the form of installation and unique presentation, which will showcase the elegance of the brand. Replicating the correlation of Bristish nature and style, combining all four seasons of the year as if composed over a single day. Hosted in Shanghai, creative energy and vivacity which drives our ambition for it to be showcased as a principal destination for Fashion and Luxury.

In today’s global culture of instant information and ubiquitous technology, of pace, of speed, of immediacy and convenience the modern developing environment. But with the knowledge that was formed over generations, what he wears and how he wears it speaks of someone in sync with the rhythm of a grander, more harmonious force – that of nature.

KONY 2012 has been becoming more and more viral over the last week. This led me to look into what they are doing and get more information about the whole situation.

This site was brought to my attention: www.visiblechildren.tumblr.com

It bring about some interesting points as follows:

"Invisible Children has been condemned time and time again. As a registered not-for-profit, its finances are public. Last year, the organization spent $8,676,614. Only 32% went to direct services (page 6), with much of the rest going to staff salaries, travel and transport, and film production. This is far from ideal, and Charity Navigator rates their accountability 2/4 stars because they haven’t had their finances externally audited. But it goes way deeper than that."

"The group is in favour of direct military intervention, and their money supports the Ugandan government’s army and various other military forces. Here’s a photo of the founders of Invisible Children posing with weapons and personnel of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army. Both the Ugandan army and Sudan People’s Liberation Army are riddled with accusations of rape and looting, but Invisible Children defends them, arguing that the Ugandan army is “better equipped than that of any of the other affected countries”, although Kony is no longer active in Uganda andhasn’t been since 2006 by their own admission. These books each refer to the rape and sexual assault that are perennial issues with the UPDF, the military group Invisible Children is defending."

"If you want to write to your Member of Parliament or your Senator or the President or the Prime Minister, by all means, go ahead. If you want to post about Joseph Kony’s crimes on Facebook, go ahead. But let’s keep it about Joseph Kony, not KONY 2012."

There will always be 2 sides to this and logically looking at it Joseph Kony would never have got the publicity needed to bring about a change that KNOY 2012 is bringing. It does seem like a necessary evil to spend money on viral advertising but the main thing that bothers me is the misallocated money and where a lot is not accounted for though direct services that Invisible Children are carrying out, thus making them a profit organisation.

"Military intervention may or may not be the right idea, but people supporting KONY 2012 probably don’t realize they’re supporting the Ugandan military who are themselves raping and looting away. If people know this and still support Invisible Children because they feel it’s the best solution based on their knowledge and research, I have no issue with that. But I don’t think most people are in that position, and that’s a problem."

The other more important point is the supporting of the Ugandan military who are condemned for the very similar reasons as Kony is. The whole situation with the military action is that it seems to be a lesser of 2 evils.

I don't have a better answer to the problem and i am in no way condemning KONY 2012 i was just intrigued by the situation.

If you have anything to add or i have missed something feel free to get in contact.

This is the latest Invisible Children film, watch and decide for yourself.

This is something that my mate james passed on to me today... its perfect... the motion and music work perfectly. Not only that the colour pallet in the film is something i don't see that often and i applaud it.

This just shows how a location can change so much within a short film. Antony Crooks other stuff is definitely worth checking out.

Another short post but again this is something i caught at graduate fashion week... some of the guys from fashion marketing had this song on an incredible film for a final output (i cant find it online BUT if you guys read this and know where it is give me a shout). You know when you hear something but you don't really realise? well that happened to me with this... i heard it and before i knew it i had be stood staring at the film totally zoned out.

Needless to say im waiting for this album SADLY its not out till the 3rd of Oct.

___Tyler The Creator___

Now this is something im not normally that into but this guy has caught my eye. This dark video was first shown to me by my friend james and it had already racked up 100000 views in the first day. The way he has gone about producing his music and his videos is pretty special just because he is still down to earth. Im just waiting to see if he practices what he preaches over the next few years and for me that will make of break him.

___End Hunting Co.___

I have not updated for a while but thats due to getting my new camera (Canon 550D) and just messing around with it a lot. I went over to End Hunting today with james and took a few shots in our 20 min stay and knocked this short together in 20 mins at home so its a little rough.

So this is just this is a short seeing what i can do with what i have... much more to come!

Thanks to the guys at End and End Hunting Co. for letting me film.

___Riceboy Sleeps___

Jonsi & Alex have been producing music together since 2003. Ill be honest i first found there work because of there artwork but because of there album "Riceboy Sleeps". The sounds and music they make is a lot like an experimental Sigour Ross and Sigour Ross is already pretty experimental but this does make them perfect for filler or background tracks.

Windows by Jonsi & Alex

They work with reclaimed shutters (as seen above) and old books and much more. The music and painting work in perfect harmony with each other and evoke the same feelings.

But by far the most interesting thing for me are the films they produce to supplement there music. Again the mood and feeling within the films are incredible its hard to describe but have a look for yourself.

___Underground Coal Fire___

This was brought to my attention a year back by Vice Tv (www.vbs.tv) and i cant seem to find the link now but its incredible. The long short of it is that a coal fire started underground years back in and abandoned mine (not sure how long im trying to find out more) and has not stopped burning. This has lead to the ground shifting and making most places unsafe to live anymore. In the coal fires wake it has left full towns abandoned. The following film/photography illustrates the strange beauty of the disaster.

___The Mast Brothers Chocolate___

Now here is something increasingly rare to find. No not a pair of brothers with big beards… but to men willing to put there love of work before the profitability of there company. The brothers are based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in an incredible little shop that sets the standard for how things should be done. Beneath the bravado of the two brothers there is an amazing lust for quality and legitimacy.

The Mast Brothers

The brothers go out of their way to keep their work in house with customised bean grinders and tiny roasting machines. Their work is well renowned throughout America, by selling large amounts to equally prestigious pastry chefs and restaurants in tern this self perpetuates what they are trying to achieve.

Asides from the delicious chocolate they produce the thing that interested me the most was how they packaged there chocolate. They hand print and hand wrap all of their chocolate with hand printed heavy butcher like paper.

I have not tried any of there chocolates but I am working on it, if you have please contact me via the tabs at the top of this page.
